At Trinity we feel it is important for an individual, or community, to articulate and think through what they believe. To help you understand us better we would like to share with you our statement of faith. These words are not just what we believe, but are a foundation of how we see the world. It is important for us to acknowledge that we as Baptists believe many things in common with other Christian denominations. For example, we believe, as do others, in the existence of God, in the Trinity, in the Divinity of Christ, in the sufficiency of Christ's death and resurrection for forgiveness and eternal life.
At Trinity Baptist We Believe:
- In the Bible as the divinely inspired Word of God, completely reliable and the final authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
- In the Trinity - One true God, eternally existing in three Persons Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
- In Jesus Christ as God's Only Son, conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin, sent from God to die on the cross for the sins of the world and raised again by God's power.
- In human beings, created by God for a relationship with Him; but, because all are sinners by nature and choice, they are subject to condemnation. A restored relationship with God, the forgiveness of sins and the joy of eternal life is the gift of God's grace that comes through faith alone in Jesus Christ as Savior.
- In the Holy Spirit who indwells every believer and gives gifts to each one for ministry in the church and mission in the world.
- In the church as comprised only of those who have accepted Jesus Christ as Savior. It is universal, consisting of all true believers, but finds it's logical expression in the local church for purposes of worship, education, fellowship and outreach.
- In two ordinances: believers' baptism - a one-time initiation into the body of Christ, symbolizing His death and resurrection; and the Lord's Supper - a recurring ordinance also symbolizing Christ's death.
- In the priesthood of believers by which every person has direct access to God through Christ and needs no intervention of any human agent.
- In the democratic church government that is locally autonomous and completely independent.
- In the personal and visible return of our Lord Jesus Christ, in the resurrection of the body, final judgment, and eternity with God for all who believe.
