Church History
On March 6, 1976, seven families from Canadian Baptists of Western Canada (CBWC) churches in Edmonton elected a committee to begin a new CBWC church in Strathcona County and in April of the same year, the first service of worship and communion was held in Madonna School. The following April, 1977 Trinity Baptist Church was officially organized. The charter membership roll was signed by 27 people including the first person baptized into the church. On February 13, 1979, the current church property (2.87 hectares) was purchased and the original sanctuary built (which is now the Frank Patch wing) and the congregation began meeting on this site in 1979. A second phase was added in 1988. That phase included the sanctuary, foyer, lower fellowship hall, kitchen, classrooms, and washrooms. The original sanctuary and basement became a gymnasium and youth centre and in May of 1988, a service was held to dedicate the present sanctuary.
On May 26, 2003, the church celebrated it’s twenty-fifth anniversary and from March – September 2003, a major renovation to the church facility took place to prepare for the future ministry of the church.
In 2008 our church leadership found itself (with new structure and vision) seeking the Lord’s direction as to what goals we should have for the next 3-5 years. The vision that was developed came out of our desire to help people of all ages belong, serve, and grow (our vision statement) and we continue to work with that vision in our planning for the future.
